How can we awaken our senses and convey the sensations we feel when we walk into a park?
The installation
Walk through the installation
Starting point
A creative laboratory on the Parc de Bagatelle, in Paris, with Coralie Tombal: the efflorescence of the flowers, our feelings on site and poetry guided our experiments.
Our main theme was the flower as raw material.
Approach
We set out to translate these sensations by engaging our senses as fully as possible: touch, through weaving and different weave structures; sight, through colour research inspired by the park’s flowers; smell, through perfumes with plant scents; hearing, through sound recordings and interviews.
Our work centred on a range of colours as close as possible to those of the park. Each of these coloured chapters is a poetic evocation of this Parisian park.
Listening
We interviewed different people to understand what they needed: calm, nature, and a pause away from the bustle of the city.
Research
The book, and colour research drawn from the park’s flowers
Experimentation
Painting, sublimation, flower rubbing, anthotypes, photographs…
Natural dyeing and perfume-making
Textile research
Weaving with naturally dyed yarns, naturally dyed weaving (dyed after weaving), and a sublimated weave for the cover of the edition.
